Serbian competition authority receives capacity-building boost
A project to strengthen the capacity of Serbia’s competition authority included training on how to conduct dawn raids on organisations suspected of breaching competition regulations.
With support from donors, the EBRD helped the Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) in four main areas: improving its use of econometrics, which are crucial to the commission’s work; strengthening its advocacy function in the area of competition policy; improving cooperation between the CPC and sector regulators; and building its dawn raid capacity.
Training in the latter area comprised a two-day workshop on preparing and executing a dawn raid and featured a simulated intervention. Additional training focused on processing and managing any information gathered from such raids.
